Dr. Mar Peter-Raoul

Dr. Mar (Mama) Peter-Raoul, our founder, started The Beloved Community with inspiration from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s vision for a more socially and economically just world. For decades as an associate professor at Marist College, she led her students through Praxis projects, which place action at the helm of theory. Leading by example, Dr. Mar is a published author, a scholar of peace & global studies, and a role model to those around her.

She reminds us all that there are so many good things you can do in the world; choose one.

Cal, our Co-President, is a long-time member of The Beloved Community. He loves exploring & camping in national parks, sci-fi, and spending time with his snuggly cat, Matcha. Cal is inspired by those who are fiercely kind and unapologetically themselves. Throughout his volunteering journey with TBC, Cal has witnessed the power of collective action working on projects he holds dear such as The Kolkata Childrens Project. He envisions a future where communities worldwide embark on projects to organically “build themselves” through collaborative efforts and community building – and it all begins with you & The Beloved Community

Colin-Pierre, our Co-President, brings his passion for positive change from Brooklyn, NY. With nearly two decades of commitment to TBC, Colin’s inspiration comes from those who fearlessly improve others’ lives and express their true selves. When he’s not working on bettering our communities, Colin Spends time in nature, doing yoga, and taking road trips with his sweet dog Zuko. Colin is always looking towards the future of TBC and creating a haven for communities in need.

Co-Vice President

Jorden, our Co-Vice President, has dedicated many years to The Beloved Community. As an active Binghamton neighbor, Jorden has been a key player in coordinating community projects and connecting with local businesses. Outside of volunteering, Jorden exercises his green thumb tending to his beautiful garden and his many species of plants. You might just see him walking around town with his four-legged furbaby Winnie.

Co-Vice President

Cam, our Co-Vice President, brings us his charm from the peaceful fields of his Christmas tree farm. As an avid canoer, spelunker, and thrill seeker, Cam brings adventure and laughter to The Beloved Community. Cam’s family motivates him to continue being of service to his community and to volunteer with TBC. On a broader scale, he envisions a world where people communicate politely yet directly, fostering harmony and understanding.

Jacob, our Treasurer and lifelong member of The Beloved Community, embarked on his volunteering journey on a transformative trip to Kolkata, India. On this trip, Jacob recalls presenting a 7-year old member of Chitragunj Village (Kolkata Children’s Project) with a wheelchair so that his parents could more easily transport him around the village and into Kolkata for treatment. It was at this moment that Jacob saw the potential that TBC had to provide value to our communities. Outside of volunteering, Jacob enjoys drumming, juggling, and unicycling.

Alex, our Secretary, is fueled by a passion for community service. Whether she’s actively engaged with children, participating in community events, or tending to neighborhood animals, she wholeheartedly commits herself to making a difference. Beyond her volunteering endeavors, Alex finds joy in immersing herself in nature, expressing her creativity through painting, and playing with her spunky puppy, Fabio. Inspired by individuals who pursue their dreams, Alex envisions a future where kindness prevails, hoping for a world where everyone treats each other with compassion and respect.

Chief Marketing Officer

Brielle, our Chief Marketing Officer, has been volunteering with The Beloved Community for the past six years. She enjoys her afternoon walks, crafting, and lounging around with her beloved cat, Matcha. Brielle is inspired by TBC’s unique approach and commitment to providing volunteers the space to develop and pilot their own community projects. Brielle envisions a future where neighbors are empowered by the transformative power of community bonding.

Steering Committee Member

Danny, our dedicated Steering Committee Member with seven years of unwavering commitment, exemplifies the spirit of The Beloved Community. Danny has a passion for supporting his friends, volunteering, and spending time with his pet turkey named Tomacina. Danny is a firm believer in the leadership of TBC, recognizing its potential to inspire impactful local neighborhood projects that bring tangible, positive change to everyday lives.
